CatSalut publishes diagnostic-test waiting lists by centre. This page reorganises the June snapshot for each year to follow gastroscopy trends, compare hospitals and maintain a consistent geography when administrative divisions change.
This is not a ranking or an assessment of care. The number of patients waiting and the mean waiting time are different indicators and are shown separately.

To compare the territory consistently between 2021 and 2026, hospitals are grouped into 13 fixed geographic areas. The CatSalut health region published for each record is retained in the dataset.

Methodology
How the data were prepared
The visualisation preserves the official totals and documents the transformations needed to compare six years consistently.
One annual snapshot: June
Only records for Endoscòpia esofagogàstrica —gastroscòpia— for June 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. This keeps the point in the year constant and supports a consistent year-on-year comparison.
The representativeness of June was checked against available March, September and December snapshots for 2022–2024 and March 2025. Across Catalonia, June is generally close to the average of the annual snapshots reviewed and preserves a highly consistent relative ordering of hospitals.
Stable geographic areas
CatSalut changed its territorial organisation during the period —for example, by creating the Penedès Health Region. Using those regions directly would introduce administrative breaks into the time series.
Each hospital is therefore assigned to one of 13 fixed areas. Area totals sum patients and procedures hospital by hospital; waiting time is aggregated using the number of patients waiting as weights. The CatSalut region published each year is retained in the dataset.
What each figure means
- Patients waiting: people recorded on the waiting list in the published snapshot.
- Mean waiting time: mean waiting time of pending patients, in days.
- Procedures completed through June: cumulative figure within the year through the June snapshot. Comparisons always use the same period.
- Sex: percentage of men and women on the pending list.
Source, visual exclusions and limitations

Clínica Salus Infirmorum is not shown in hospital visualizations because it appears only once, in June 2023, with 36 patients. The record remains in the source dataset and official totals.
The data do not report new entries to the list, clinical priorities, referrals, room availability or the causes of changes. The page therefore describes the series without attributing causality.
Catalonia totals are the totals published by CatSalut for each June snapshot.
Normalisation changes names and geographic groupings where necessary for comparison, but does not alter the published values.
How to interpret these data
This visualisation is based on public data published by CatSalut from the healthcare waiting-list system (LES). Figures reflect information reported and updated by the centres and may be subject to later corrections or data-quality incidents communicated by CatSalut.
Urgent diagnostic procedures are not included in this monitoring. Scheduling is prioritised according to clinical and social circumstances, including severity, the risk associated with delay and other clinical criteria. A hospital’s mean waiting time is therefore an aggregate figure: it does not predict an individual patient’s wait or assess quality of care.
